A few weeks here and there doesn’t change the status quo in geopolitics. While Russia is busy bombing Ukraine, the world is looking for alternatives to stop the ongoing madness. Israel-Palestine engagement is not too much of a distraction hence India-Pakistan needs much more social media presence.
The recent Pahalgam attack in Kashmir might be an outcome of political and intelligence failure due to its return to legislature. But, Modi is in no position to start a full scale war against Pakistan. The reality is that a world where the majority of the population follows an Abrahamic faith would never arm and support a country that follows non-Abrahamic faith. Showing solidarity with India is different than showing solidarity with Ukraine.
The only country that India can rely upon for some leverage is Russia. But, again the Russia-Ukraine war has pushed Russia in the laps of China. Donald Trump in his second term might have thought to cut that grip. But, it’s too little and too late. His recent tariff war also backfired and the US is back to square one and continues to heavily rely on China for trade. The world had hoped for India but Modi as we all know made significant progress only in terms of political leverage in India. He did make some good policy changes but no concrete changes were made to the Indian economy to build the future. India continues to heavily rely upon its outsourcing economy.
There is no other alternative for the world to hope for other than China. The latest US-Ukraine minerals deal also suggests that the US will no longer be interested in ending the war on the eastern European front and free Russia from their engagement. And knowing this fact, India can never hope for Russia to support them as they need support from China to maintain their status quo. So, the world is too back to where it was: Being sympathetic to Ismalists as a hogwash to be a pseudo-liberal, continue arming nations for war who follow Abrahamic faiths, and continue relying on China for manufacturing and trade.
If we learn something from these recent events, it is that Indians have no leverage over the world. The only thing that can help India in the long run is to come back to the basics. Eradicate the non-inclusive (filter-based) education system, invest heavily in research and development, and strengthen Indian Rupee. All this is possible when India ditches the media management and takes concrete steps in building its own economy. And of course, don’t start a war with the world!
